Legendary brothers Levin (Tony and Pete), and La Barbera (Pat & Joe), have joined brotherly forces together to go back to their roots – jazz with their quartet Band Of Brothers. With a stunning who’s who of musical credits this exceptional quartet will perform a collection of original tunes and standards from their storied pasts. Hot off of his 2023 international Peter Gabriel tour, master bassist Tony Levin returns to the Arcata Playhouse with a Band Of Brothers as part of a west coast tour on Monday, January 15. Don’t miss this rare treat with these incredible musicians who have graced international stages with the top names in their field for over fifty years.

Tony Levin has become the bass and Chapman Stick voice for Peter Gabriel and King Crimson. In addition, he has played on notable recordings for John Lennon, Pink Floyd, Lou Reed, Paul Simon, Dire Straits, Carly Simon, Peter Frampton, Seal, Bryan Ferry, James Taylor, and many others. Tony has major jazz credentials, having worked with Buddy Rich, Steps Ahead, L’Image, Gary Burton, Chuck Mangione, and Herbie Mann. He currently records and tours with Peter Gabriel, Stick Men, Levin Brothers, and Band Of Brothers. Tony Levin is one of the world’s most recorded bass players. Pete Levin earned a master’s degree from the Juilliard School. As a keyboardist he has graced hundreds of jazz and pop recordings and performed with the likes of Miles Davis, Gil Evans, Jimmy Giuffre, Paul Simon, Dave Brubeck, David Sanborn, Joe Louis Walker, Don Elliott, Freddie Hubbard, Annie Lennox, Charles Mingus, Jaco Pastorius, and Wayne Shorter.

Pat La Barbera is a New York born Canadian jazz tenor, alto and soprano saxophonist, clarinetist, and flautist, most notable for his work as a soloist in Buddy Rich bands from 1967 to 1973. He has toured and recorded with the Buddy Rich Big Band, Woody Herman, Louise Bellson, Gap Mangione, Richie Beirach, Carlos Santana, and many others. In 2000, he won a Juno Award for Best Traditional Instrumental Jazz Album for Deep in a Dream.

Joe La Barbera is a jazz drummer and composer who began his professional career playing with Woody Herman and the Thundering Herd. In the 1970s he spent four years recording and touring with Chuck Mangione. In 1979 he was a member of the Bill Evans trio with Marc Johnson on upright bass, then spent much of the 1980s and early 1990s with Tony Bennett. He has worked with Bob Brookmeyer, Jim Hall, Art Farmer, Art Pepper, John Scofield, Toots Thielemans, and Phil Woods, Rosemary Clooney, Bud Shank, John Abercrombie, Lee Konitz, Michael Bublé, and Rod Stewart. He has taught at the California Institute of the Arts at the Bud Shank Jazz Workshop, Centrum Jazz Camp, Roma Jazz Cool, Capbreton, and McGill University in Montreal.
